In fact, after working out details on which warnings and strict modes to enable and make fatal, we found that we (and our code written so far, and others) fully agree on every option, even though we never used warnings before, so it seems this module indeed reflects a "common" sense among some long-time Perl coders. The basic philosophy behind the choices made in common::sense can be summarised as: "enforcing strict policies to catch as many bugs as possible, while at the same time, not limiting the expressive power available to the programmer". Two typical examples of how this philosophy is applied in practise is the handling of uninitialised and malloc warnings: * _uninitialised_ 'undef' is a well-defined feature of perl, and enabling warnings for using it rarely catches any bugs, but considerably limits you in what you can do, so uninitialised warnings are disabled. * _malloc_ Freeing something twice on the C level is a serious bug, usually causing memory corruption. It often leads to side effects much later in the program and there are no advantages to not reporting this, so malloc warnings are fatal by default. Unfortunately, there is no fine-grained warning control in perl, so often whole groups of useful warnings had to be excluded because of a single useless warning (for example, perl puts an arbitrary limit on the length of text you can match with some regexes before emitting a warning, making the whole 'regexp' category useless). What follows is a more thorough discussion of what this module does, and why it does it, and what the advantages (and disadvantages) of this approach are.bxפobs-power9-06;SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP4openSUSEGPL-1.0+ or Artistic-1.0https://bugs.opensuse.orgDevelopment/Libraries/Perlhttp://search.cpan.org/dist/common-sense/linuxppc64le>WV>DPAAAA$$A큤$bxעbxעbxעbxעbxסS=bxףUdRCfDԻ>%ta&Yü,ōcoZ[c9c0W4mmQ팟ZlOIM7V uv%+ t.Ʈyxk0V:G9hB趚Ym`Oh. 9-oAuS<ƈb)3Kf. ϸ07<bo'-hPSr;)Y9x&Qc%q;ja2~87q=7]l[)܉QDFtТۭhƨQlS};7}[w9+x{84#Mb 81Eۏ?`f+ec!4DB5A@el-dF URvBD++ [\j%Ef.P8͐2\LK" tyl3H-#6XPf ] 5s_T1Na!2J&O._a$K_ BBGt)TkʔӵL|Q``3c@ yW)qf䬨ʶ{ѨPP>LA%2_Tv6:a<`2SI-xg7] s˶B1:çǰ;!gǘGSK/2hH&?{tQ.EdQ$^Pʓzl#0[aó=޾ˋ@6_X[;ry,2 8!*&[ߩj$tC^9+ߐ1㫝5,J4_00r0PشPRfaF-k,^Psnն7vUJ#`pi(6fgںJt貯4vׯH*-x->^7#RVC*>(P/)$3D}W&i;0 ?}HI >? mMpYoHSpd0,;̧tt!SPkv5"}P>q2s&mסg/y}| I_CR- ^#AHzvH0mH[Y14A8;Z$ޱ 367_/{hL}I߾=MƲ=bYB@7M #~3m(g~.&Mc$sn[hD]F{H3_Pslg63^B;͋ߎE-#9,sK>ZE죚dy 4O\+ُj$q+&R2v|~vx,7]٘tƈWWۭBb+Ue6Se )S+[caBp>`A?b<C)ٵاѥ")JzBiQπPRM^Y+x嗒qd7$\ĥrh.o q[蘘<[ǦJpwOm7Z-&?~؀cQOxKə %5ˌ IUC O6#ܟ19UtSw:I0h $jBfp ]*WM{F!p -)'l NkLRh|A߾-*@l*ДuMŬ?;nOw<+jfdݬ#?fD}]:f5yCkH؆ ʘזNJá/Ջ]^}pn576Ucuf(b}ܣ<ոX`gW+𒒜 yؚv(`&G\m+@эt5|\k`f>vG #+H lvɝ8Ͼfz~u4XgJ[D]@"iQuEJ2Ft Ga "2{PҥL:p7n6o/#[>uvYCrS.6g#lx#5G5 /(w[bk3fI7n .{,ŹSDrʤ!a8ܣEߓsDwbk0xZmᷴe)ǙƂ)t!)f.u7"{4N/30>wN_Adt?<~lɦEu&}j* M8dHC&Ftյ0oD}LUP'H[M?jÌ3 屭B/Cp#2/9Ew`HNpc8'.Ci{_T:%<ggyዄyN:Sء^G$nuU:8I[On4<{V(F$29ANv! g !D,֜-g z}miYXI+]UwJD(՝-trZT }b-,Pןɬl)EU?%mf{'ÙirSGy` Ml+ 2s~Yqq0+ ؕd}0;&0-/ekY2( ̵`4KOHEQ8A$QH]sClC^_eLSO^B0?ύh@*TA ]m44N >jlyYGe]t`/ l3h^Mb+9WKȤεyl6ծ`E 2"/4B3!Jh9-g_ iWw-њ?%l/8HJ;ϫLWS@t%'pMYC2h3S|6mSkq U\D:y>y?[CtmP73fynJa>-(Rs4KǗ~w-a,IM+J!\;AQ7T 4Q< Q"TJTŕ`3C.qێ0 +!ant47|uֈa&9QђhqlJsq/S%ÿphg*'mu {AZ I79Q56$'NYZj+AfBSlM:&9` R{<˱ 0(҅UV&|olj%05䫓B&b0+j>WX8eB[vLf4^* q}(8F\b=IWi 2`+ɪcȊ x|%dAB?<W.fid^9\Df0$TˉT\4`^<O; oWV|(ZrHADt~B} $ʔgrH72EjMQ*[&^m*?cmJȏ-V')^Ln4_MRwPrd^z:5c%ͿYX=tDH=QX*g!-/Kz뙿f)lNzD0^|ޏIBwrߖ.y i3՚k@̅sƷM8Q/75|2*6D5 W:$ b`n)>* pE#!Al佇z_&[_\Tt8ͅ{> cm9]eL;"~ K@Kt,=y`Q$6kCE-ӮHHɄQlA}vX-Ŗl;1^nNvڕu^`9qVۉD;G1 r l'(3 ?& .
